
It all began in 2012 when Shirene got attracted to Fondant Cake making. She has always wanted pastries to be a big part of her career, little did she know it literally changed her life when she discovered that the use of Fondant in pastries making has opened up a lot of possibilities for her.
The love for Fondant, and how well-received it is by others, and in no time she was making and selling Fondant Cakes.
Starting The Studio
She didn’t turn full-time until 2015 when she co-founded her own Studio – SOS Cakery – and along with Henry, who has been making pastries for a number of years, started their careers as professional pastry chefs.
SOS Cakery
specialises in making fondant cakes, cup cakes, icing biscuits, icing flowers and macaroons.
Apart from being our pastries-workshop, our Studio also serves as the venue for our fondant decoration, icing biscuit decoration and sugar flower making course. We’re not the only ones teaching here too, as we regularly invite other pastry chefs to our Studio to teach, thereby allowing even more collaborations & choices for our students.
Competitions
We actively take part in Pastry Competitions, both as a participant as well as a Coach / Advisor when our students do take part. As a team, some of the awards we have won in this short 3 years include:

HENRY NG
CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Henry worked as a marketing personnel before turning full-time as a Fondant Artist, Instructor, and eventually the Creative Director of S.O.S Cakery in 2016. Has won multiple accolades in various Cakes & Pastries Competitions both as a participant as well as the advisor for his students.
SHIRENE CHIN
CHIEF PASTRIES INSTRUCTOR
Shirene was working in the Make up industry but she has always envisioned a career as a Pâtissier. It was, eventually, by chance she became what she’d always wanted to be – a Fondant Cake Artist. CO-founded S.O.S Cakery Studio in 2016 and started her career in teaching Fondant Cake-making & Creative Cakery. Shirene specialises in Fondant Cake Creation, Icing Cookies & Icing Flowers.
